After landing in Chicago today, I received a phone call from a physician in Los Angeles. He called to learn more about how our team could help him prepare for sentencing and federal prison. On our call, he mentioned how pleased and impressed he was with his white-collar Defense Attorney. On our call, I learned his new defense attorney was a former United States attorney in the Central District of Los Angeles. To be clear, I know his lawyer. He has hired an excellent lawyer. What I found interesting was how he repeatedly said his lawyer was phenomenal simply because he was a former United States Attorney. Admittedly, our team has heard that repeatedly over the years. Specifically, people believe they’ve hired the best lawyer simply because their lawyer was a former United States Attorney. Is that true?
