Chinese immigrants, many from Guangzhou, established temples, cultural associations, and schools — laying the foundation for the thriving community we see today. With around 250 Chinese-owned and Chinese-themed shops and restaurants packed into a lively area, Yokohama Chinatown is even larger than the Chinatowns in Kobe and Nagasaki. From ornate gates and temples to sizzling street food stalls, there’s something exciting around every corner.
