In this episode, I went out to photograph a lighthouse and focus on creating a series of black and white images. I captured four photographs in total — one in color and three in black and white, including a long exposure image. For this shoot, I experimented with the dark sky technique, famously associated with Ansel Adams. I wanted to deepen the sky tones and create stronger contrast to make the lighthouse stand out against the dramatic background. Through composition, leading lines, and tonal control, I aimed to simplify the scene while emphasizing the shape of the rocks and the structure of the lighthouse. Each image explores a slightly different approach — from natural light to long exposure and contrast-driven black and white processing. Let me know which image you prefer and share your thoughts on the dark sky effect in the comments below. ------------------------- MY IG / @photoflooddays ------------------------- MY GEAR Sony A7R4 Sony A6700 Canon EF 16-35mm F4L IS USM Sony FE 24-105mm F4 G OSS Sony FE 100-400mm F4.5-5.6 GM OSS & Sony ZV-E10 II Sony E PZ 16-50mm F3.5-5.6 OSS II DJI Osmo Pocket 3 & Kase Filters & Gitzo GT3543LS Manfrotto Element MII & Lowepro ProTactic BP 450 AW II ------------------------- CHAPTERS 0:00 – Intro 1:01 – The Clouds 2:18 – Image 1 2:43 – 24-105mm 5:35 – Image 2 6:08 – The Shot I Couldn't Make 9:30 – Image 3 9:54 – Foreground Interest 13:10 – Image 4 -------------------------------------------------- #landscapephotography #blackandwhitephotography #longexposure
