The history of Badal Mahal is believed to be around 400 years old. The Badal Mahal has been constructed in two different phases. At one stage, Maharawal Gopinath built his verandah and ground floor. While the second phase was constructed by Maharawal Punjaraja (1609–1657 AD) where he built the first floor, dome and verandah in the ground floor after some renovation. The main purpose of the construction of Badal Mahal was also to accommodate the guests of the state. And later this palace was used as a camping palace for the Chief Army Staff.
