From the south (Nizwa) A solid road leads up from Nizwa and Al Hamra to the pass of Ash Sharaf. There, the road continues downwards as unpaved track and is accessible by 4WD cars only. The road passes the villages of Hat and Balad Sayt. From the pass of Ash Sharaf the distance is 13 km and takes 50 minutes to drive. 2. From the north (Rustaq) A solid road near Al Awabi turns off from road number 13 between Rustaq and Nakhl into the valley of Wadi Bani Awf. The solid road ends near Tikhah, continues as unpaved track and is accessible by 4WD cars only. From Tikhah the distance is 13 km and takes 35 minutes to drive. The coordinates of the starting position aside the road just after (1) resp. before (2) Bimah are: 23.2111 N 57.3847 E. If a necessary 4WD car is not available or desired, then the operator offers a paid pick-up service from the solid road. • VARIANT This video describes the "short" variant of the Snake Canyon adventure and takes ca. 2 hours. Its starting point is, as mentioned, near Bimah. A "long" variant is offered as well and takes ca. 5 hours. Its starting point is located at a higher position along the road closer to Balad Sayt. The long variant contains initally abseiling elements and joins later on with the short variant. Both variants contain walking, jumping, gliding and swimming elements. • EQUIPMENT Clothing should be light including shorts, shirt and sport shoes. Helmet and swim vest are provided by the operator. Equipment for making pictures and videos can be taken, if waterproof. Everything will be soaked and fully wet. • PREREQUISITES The physical condition should be moderate to good without having fear for jumping into basins from a height of 2 to 3 meters. • OPERATOR Multiple operators offer this kind of adventure in Snake Canyon.
