Warner says no imminent threat to US as he questions Israel-driven war

US Senator Mark Warner has said there was "no imminent threat to the United States of America by the Iranians", drawing a sharp distinction between risks facing Washington and those facing Israel. Speaking in a televised statement, Warner warned that equating a threat to Israel with an imminent threat to the US puts the country in "uncharted territory". He said the stated objectives of the operation have shifted repeatedly, from targeting Iran’s nuclear capacity to ballistic missiles, to regime change and now to sinking the Iranian fleet. Calling it "a war of choice", Warner argued it had been dictated by Israel’s goals and timelines.
