Eastern White Pelican Walkthrough at RZSS Edinburgh Zoo

RZSS Edinburgh Zoo has just unveiled its new pelican walkthrough exhibit, which opened to public on Monday 15 June. The exciting new walkthrough allows visitors to get up close to the pelicans, with clear viewing access. Home to six eastern white pelicans, the walkthrough exhibit features glass panelling to allow full, unobstructed views of the magnificent birds. Four of the older pelicans are named: Xylia, Wilu, Timo and Samson, whilst the two younger ones will be named once they are a bit older. A little place of tranquillity, the exhibit features large ponds and cascading waterfalls surrounded by verdant plants and trees. The pelicans’ new home even includes a number of stunning mature weeping willows that tumble down over the water (and are thought to be around 100 years old), and a wooden jetty set onto one of the ponds.
