La Habana, part 2. Cuba

The beautiful (unfortunately a bit less well maintained) architecture of Havana can be discovered on every corner of the street and can be seen in de presentation “La Habana, part 1”. Ladies with thick cigars, delicious music and of course the real Havanna Club Rum characterize this pearl in Latin America. The nightlife of Havanna is known for its compelling music and the always dancing locals. While enjoying a delicious Mojito or other mix with the homemade rum it is good to stay in this vibrant and colorful city. In addition to food, drink and oxygen, music is one of the basic necessities of life for the average Cuban. You notice this in Havana. In quite a few places you are confronted with live music. Sometimes by a band playing in the streets, sometimes by a colorful procession through the streets of Habana Vieja. Dancers, not seldom on stilts, move to the sounds played by the accompanists. When you go out for dinner, your meal will often be enlivened with delicious live music. At the time when Havana was a vibrant city, where many Americans came to gamble, holiday and go out, Bodeguita del Medio was opened. Bodeguita del Medio became even better known around the 50's thanks to the popular drink Mojito. The drink has now conquered the world and Bodeguita del Medio enjoys a name and fame. The creativity among the inhabitants of Cuba sometimes seems limitless. This is also the case in the town of Jaimanitas, just outside Havana. The Fusterlandia district was put on the map here by artist José Fuster. As you approach the district you can already see some of his mosaic works looming up in the streets. But the most beautiful collection can be found in his Fusterlandia. You walk, as it were, through, over and along his art. All kinds of bright colours alternate in different shapes, pastel shades, water features, niches and terraces. First version 31 views.
