‘Nature Led’ is an artistic way-finding strategy created by Enya Lachman-Curl. Follow the colourful brush strokes throughout the centre to help guide your journey; each floor is represented by a colour and the waiting areas are highlighted by hand-painted artworks on the walls. The artist’s work also features on lighting panels in the procedure rooms, on windows and in hanging mobiles suspended in the stairwell. Nature Led uses a visual language of large gestural brush strokes, recurring motifs and fractal patterns, integrated with the clinical signage, to create a breadcrumb effect that guides intuitively around the centre. The project aims to create a calming environment informed by biophilic design, which has been shown to have a positive effect on our mental and physical health as well as aiding with patient recovery. enyalachmancurl.co.uk @enyalachmancurl ‘Nature-Led' has been commissioned by rb&hArts, the arts team at Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals. The arts programme is designed to improve the clinical environment, improve patient experience, and enhance the wellbeing of patients, visitors, staff and the local communities surrounding each hospital. www.rbht.nhs.uk/arts @rbharts Film by Elam Forrester www.elamforrester.com
