The Calotype How Photography Became Shareable In this video, we’re exploring the calotype, one of the earliest photography processes, invented in 1841 by William Henry Fox Talbot. Unlike daguerreotypes, which created a single image on metal, the calotype used light-sensitive paper to create a negative — making it possible to reproduce multiple positive prints for the first time. This breakthrough took photography from something rare and one-of-a-kind to something shareable. The negative/positive system introduced by the calotype became the foundation for film photography and influenced the way we shoot all the way into the digital era. We’ll cover: 📷 How the calotype process worked (in simple terms) 🧪 Why it was different from the daguerreotype 🌍 How it made photography accessible and reproducible 💡 What modern photographers can still learn from it today 📸 Follow my work and get more photography tips: 🌎 Website: https://www.steveosphotography.com/ 📷 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/steveosphot... #PhotographyHistory #Calotype #FoxTalbot #Daguerreotype #FilmPhotography #HistoryOfPhotography #LearnPhotography #SteveOsPhotography #PhotographyTips #CreativePhotography
