A weekend of top notch steam was on the cards with all three steam tours this weekend would be without diesel ! A feat which has not been seen in a long time. While this video mainly covers the Saturday tour with Galatea, there is a bit of bonus shot from the Torbay Express at the iconic Sydney Gardens in Bath, though it all didn't go to plan unfortunately, which can be witnessed at the end of the video. For star of this video, the LMS Jubilee is seen at four locations on both legs of the trip. The first location is at Radley, just south of Oxford, where Galatea is seen roaring away from Didcot, while pushing our luck with a Voyager HST. We then jumped ahead of the loco's three operational stops to Moreton in Marsh (named after us) and the Jubilee is seen departing cautiously as it climbs away from the station with a brief slip. Two angles capture this scene. For the return leg, locations were difficult, but with the stiff four mile climb from Honeybourne up Campden Bank, this would be the stand out place to hear the famous Jubilee Roar and as the video documents, she can be heard for a while, as the class 6 makes a solid climb towards the Campden Tunnel. The final scene is taken from the other side of the tunnel as the Jube puts on the power as it begins the drop towards Blockley, before once again climbing towards Moreton In Marsh. A very good show from Galatea today, a loco which seems to be settling down well and putting in some great performances. I hope you enjoy the video.
