Second Lieutenant Richard Annand of the 2nd battalion Durham Light Infantry was awarded the first Victoria Cross of the British Army in the Second World War for his actions on the river Dyle on 15 May 1940. In this video we will follow the men of the 2nd battalion Durham Light Infantry, part of the British Expeditionary Force’s 2nd Infantry Division, as they fought along the river, opposite the town of Gastuche.
