(25 Mar 2019) A collective Brexit fatigue appears to have taken hold amongst the UK voting public. With British Prime Minister Theresa May under increased pressure to resign and after the deadline to leave the EU was extended, people are just exhausted and fed up by it all. Neil Davies, a retired soldier now turned author, said May was "a victim of her own misfortune and her own stupidity" and said her ruling Conservative party was "killing itself". UK-US dual national Jenny Firkins said she had stopped listening to the daily developments "because it keeps twisting and turning and twisting and turning and I haven't got the energy for it". Ingrid, who was born in Austria but has been living in the UK for decades, said she believed that people were "not told the truth" in the run up to the referendum, but that despite the consequences of leaving the EU that many still support it. For two years, Britain's departure date was set for March 29, 2019. Now, if the UK Parliament approves the divorce deal May struck with the bloc, it will leave the EU on May 22. If not, the UK has until April 12 to tell EU leaders what it plans to do – leave without a deal, cancel Brexit or chart a new path.
