On page 142 Francis Lacassin, in a preface to Guy's filmography, explains that films she remembers making are indicated with one or two asterisks and all others are attributed to her "because no one other than Alice Guy could have been the director." However, in the early years of the company, Gaumont bought catalogues from other filmmakers to distribute and hired other filmmaking teams such as Breteau and Hatot to make films for him outside of the studio.
