The Gameplay of Qwixx The goal of the game is to score as many points as possible. Each player receives a scorecard and a marker. The youngest player starts, unless otherwise agreed. The game proceeds in a clockwise direction. Each player performs the two actions below during their turn. Rules of Qwixx Each mark (cross) you can place earns you points. There are four rows of colored numbers ranging from 1 to 12 and from 12 to 1. These colors match the colors of the dice. Numbers in each row must be marked from left to right. You don’t have to cross off all the numbers; you may skip some. However, every mark earns you points, so you’ll want to cross off as many as possible. Once you’ve crossed off a number, you can’t mark any numbers to the left of it in that color anymore. For example, if you’ve marked 2 and then 5 in the sequence 2-3-4-5, you can no longer mark 3 or 4 in that color. Each turn consists of 2 actions: Action 1: The active player rolls the dice. First, the two white dice are used. The sum of these two dice can be used by all players to mark off a number in a color of their choice. Action 2: The active player (and only this player) can combine one of the white dice with one of the colored dice to create another total. The active player may (but does not have to) mark off a number corresponding to this total in the color of the chosen colored die. For instance, if you combine a white 1 with a blue 4 to make 5, you must cross off the number 5 in the blue row. Important Notes: If the active player cannot or chooses not to cross off any numbers in both actions, they must mark a failed attempt box on their scorecard, which costs them points. Once you’ve crossed off at least 5 numbers in a row, you may (but don’t have to) close that row by marking the final box. If you don’t cross off this final box, you cannot close the row. Once the row is closed, no more marks can be made in it. When a row is closed, the corresponding die is removed from the game. Even non-active players can close a row if they fulfill the requirements using the sum of the two white dice. Ending the Game: The game ends when two rows have been closed, and the points are tallied. Alternatively, the game also ends if a player accumulates 4 failed attempts. The current turn is always completed, so it’s possible for three rows to be closed. The player with the most points wins the game. The game proceeds in a clockwise direction. Once two rows are closed, the player with the highest score is declared the winner.
