About the presenter: Michael Lyons: Michael P. Lyons B.E.(Civil) is a Chartered Engineer since 2000 and a member of Engineers Ireland. He has an honours degree in Civil Engineering (NUI), a Postgraduate Diploma in Construction Law and Contract Administration (DU), and a Postgraduate Diploma in Fire Safety Practice (DU). He has previously been Chairperson and Secretary of the Fire and Safety Division and previously served on both the Council and the Executive of Engineers Ireland. He is a member of the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE). He has a professional interest in heritage buildings. He sits on the NSAI's National Eurocodes Advisory Committee. He was a member of the Defects in Housing Working Group (2021-22).Since 2000 he works as a self-employed Consulting Engineer and Fire Safety Consultant. He has worked as a Senior Fire Officer with Wicklow County Council from 1991 to 2000 leaving as Assistant Chief Fire Officer (Prevention). He lectures on the Trinity College (DU) Post-graduate Diploma in Fire Safety Practice. He also lectures with the South East Technological University (I.T. Carlow) on a part-time basis on the Business Studies Degree for Emergency Services.
