Of all the species of tree, shrub, vine and more there are many magnolia cultivars. The magnolia species is a good option for it long lasting flowers, aroma and attractive seasonal display possibilities. This is why magnolia are respectable species for bonsai. To get the most out of you r magnolia a slightly acidic soil is good. The magnolia bonsai needs lots of sunlight. This supports the growth. It also needs moisture. Between growth, fertiliser and a desire for a nice looking magnolia bonsai you will need to repot it ever few years. This can be as little as 3 years and up to 5 years.
