The Milky Way formed over billions of years, and the oldest known star in it is at least 13.2 billion years old, i.e. almost as old as the universe, which is about 13.8 billion years old. This is considered a relatively old galaxy, but you already knew that from a #textbook at school. The Milky Way, like everything else in the universe, moves following the radiation of the Relic radiation. Galaxies are moving away from each other, following the "momentum" of the Big Bang. There are between 100 and 400 billion stars in the Milky Way, of which we can only see about 2,500 with the naked eye.
