Recorded by Ed Griffin (South Of Cool) at Dr. Bacon's festival (The Smokedown) at Little Creek Vineyards (Snow Camp, NC) in late September 2019, this combination of songs came near the end of a 2 1/2 hour set on the final evening. The prior night, strong thunderstorms and a nearby tornado flooded portions of the camp grounds, and safety considerations prevented Bacon's set that prior evening. Thus, this set was magical, with everything available thrown into the mix. In fact, The Road Goes On Forever was the theme, because "The Party Never Ends." Note that the Back Water Brass Band from southern Mississippi joins Bacon on the side stage, along with Hunter Parker on sax (Freeway Jubilee) and others. Spencer Perry (the eighth Bacon) was the lighting designer, and additional sound was provided by Randy Hoke. Robert Crawford did the post-production mix and master. The Road Goes On Forever is a story song by Robert Earl Keen that was covered by the Highwaymen and the Allman Brothers. The first seven verses were performed at the start of this set, with the eighth representing a reprise as the evening neared its end (A Little Help From My Friends followed this video and closed the show). When I'm Gone is one of the earliest Dr. Bacon offerings, but this video of that tune is a YouTube first.
