When the 1970s rolled around, people started preparing for our bicentennial. as I sell a house from that era often I notice in the pitch of the the porch roof, or above the garage somewhere is an American Eagle with wings spread. Your kitchen wallpaper and paneling were colonial American based themes. Companies marketed colonial items and they love to put the decals or stamp of the liberty Bell or the eagle... something American. I have yet to put away all of my toys from the bicentennial! The catalysts for that 70’s era was that World War II generation that we refer to many times as the greatest generation they were patriots. What is this generation going to do with the 250th? President Trump has an initiative called America 250!  Coordinating the effort on a local level is our preeminent local historian Sandy McBeth!
