To Bilbao onboard P&O Iona

From our stop in Le Havre, we sailed away into the night and arrived at Bilbao the next morning. Weird going to sleep and waking up somewhere else!! After the rain in Southampton, we had a lovely warm day in Le Havre and even warmer in Bilbao. It was really so summer-like that when we got back to the ship, we had a swim in one of the pools! The ship actually pulls in at Getxo and Bilbao is a little distance away, but P&O have 'ferry coaches' put on so you can choose where to go prior to arriving or just go when you get there on a shuttle bus. We had a quick trip around Bilbao, stopped off in Getxo and also had this traditional Basque tea in a tent that was up in the garden of a huge historical house. After getting back in the early afternoon, we had something to eat and a swim and then watched our sail away. We also had late passengers who got a cheer from loads of passengers watching them arrive!! So, a day in Bilbao and off in the evening again .....
