The Florence American Cemetery is one of two American military cemeteries located in Italy. More than 4,000 American heroes who lost their lives during World War II are buried there, and more than 1,400 are honored on the Walls of the Missing. The majority of these men and women died in the fighting that occurred after the capture of Rome in June 1944.
