Union Pacific's LOA36R Valla Switcher (aka Fullerton Local) performs its once a week run to serve Pacific Plastics in Brea, the only customer on the industrial lead not adjacent to the Valla Yard in Santa Fe Springs. This industry gets plastic pellets hoppers, and I was able to chase this run along the stretch of trackage between Valla Yard, and the end of the line in Brea. I started off at Valla Yard, where they just arrived from switching their Santa Fe Springs industries. They kicked one empty tank car into a yard track before coupling to the cut of loaded hoppers for Pacific Plastics. Now on their way, my next two catches were in the City of Whittier. In the second Whittier shot, you can see all the way down the line to the LA City Hall. I thought that was interesting. My fourth catch was in La Habra where the backdrop was scenic trees in a suburban neighborhood. Pulling into Brea, I caught the train from a unique angle at the end of the spur where the buffer stop is, before watching it run around and switch its cars at another crossing. As they pulled the empties out, and shoved the loads in, they were ready to go home back to Valla. I caught the train in La Habra by the trees again, before catching them again in Whittier. It was here where the traffic lights all synchronized to give me reds and slow my chase down. I was able to finally catch up to them at Valla when they were putting their power away. Thanks for watching! Train ID: UP LOA36R 3 Head End: UP 1083~GP60 UPY 595~GP15-1
