#frieren #anime #beyondjourneysend Show Details: Name: Frieren: Beyond Journey's End S2 Age Restriction: TV-14 (Fantasy viol3nce) Episode: 5 (Subtitled) In this episode, the gang arrives in a town that is basically brewery central. Everywhere we look, there’s alcohol being sold. This region is known for its wheat production, so of course that means mead is flowing like water. While there, they run into a dwarf named Fass, someone Frieren actually met when travelling with her previous party. He’s been on a 200 year mission to find a legendary, ancient mead that’s supposed to be the greatest tasting drink in existence. When he asked Frieren for help centuries ago, she had to turn him down because she and Himmel were focused on defeating the Demon King. But this time? They actually stop and help him. It takes three whole months for Frieren to dismantle a magical barrier left behind by an elf she used to know—Millarde. And I’m still trying to understand the lore. Why did Millarde seal this mead away? Why build up this huge legend around it? After all that time, all that anticipation… the mead tastes disgusting. I’m genuinely confused. Fass spent over 200 years chasing this drink, and it’s awful. But what really gets me is that he’s not even upset. If anything, he seems satisfied. Then we shift to the Norm Trading Fortress, and suddenly the vibe changes. We find out Frieren owes a massive debt. I’m talking 300-years-to-pay-it-off massive. She gets captured and is basically ordered to mine silver ore to work it off. I was like, there has to be another way... Can we slay some demons? Find a rare artifact? Negotiate? But in the end, we learn that the silver ore Frieren discovers is worth far more than the debt she owes. The grandson of the original lender explains that this discovery could revitalize his trading company and help the surrounding lands recover from the devastation left behind by the demons. So, this episode really feels like it’s about value, what something is worth, what a journey is worth. Whether it’s a legendary mead that tastes terrible or a centuries-old debt that turns into economic restoration, the payoff isn’t always what we expect… Time Stamps: 00:00 Welcome Back 04:14 Lost Mead 12:22 Hard Bread 15:01 300 years 22:05 Final Thoughts ==================================================== Copyright Disclaimer Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for "fair use" for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research.
