Explore workplace meals: Deep underwater 7000m in world's only drilling vessel 'Chikyu'

This is a special series that takes a look at what people eat at workplaces we rarely get to see. This time, we head aboard Chikyu, the world’s only scientific drilling vessel operating across the globe. The ship drills into the seabed at depths of more than 7,000 meters to uncover the mechanisms behind massive earthquakes. Crews from around the world live at sea for up to three months at a time, so meals are rich in variety. Japanese, Western, Chinese, and other Asian cuisines are served buffet-style.
