Emerald Hills Skies shares the night sky via live sessions of electronically-assisted astronomy (EAA) featuring Doug Lucas, President of Team Expansion, at Team Expansion's 61-acre campus, Emerald Hills, on the outskirts of Louisville, Kentucky. Occasionally, we also share "Skylets," which are more focused on the "craft" of EAA and astronomy in general. This 11-minute Skylet profiles a new RASA 11 and its amazing potential as a platform for both observational and scientific astronomy, along with a new "tri-pier" and mount by iOptra -- the CEM70G. Because clouds were rolling in for this opening night with the scope, we only partially calibrated the new camera interface provided to us to check out - by Octopi-Astro. Octopi-Astro camera adaptors make it possible for RASA owners to adjust the camera in every dimension (even laterally) along the x, y, and z axis. With enough time and patience, a determined RASA owner (determined enough to learn to use the interface) can COMPLETELY eradicate elongated star images (and other aberrations) from the corners of virtually any camera image. In this video, we haven't completed that process. (We need a bit more time when clouds aren't rolling in!) See our other videos on how to adjust an Octopi-Astro interface.)
