Can intentionally imagining positive future experiences help improve depression? 🧠✨ In this video, I break down the findings from the SAGE Journals randomized controlled trial: “Positive Imagery-Based Cognitive Bias Modification as a Web-Based Treatment Tool for Depressed Adults” This study tested whether a structured, online mental training program that encourages people to repeatedly imagine positive outcomes could shift thinking patterns and improve emotional well-being. 👉 Read the full SAGE Journal article here: https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1... • Adults with depression completed web-based imagery training designed to help them interpret ambiguous situations in a positive way. • The training focused on mental imagery, not just positive words or affirmations. • Participants practiced repeatedly generating vivid, positive future images. • Results showed improvements in depressive symptoms, positive affect, and interpretation bias compared to control conditions. • The findings suggest that imagery-based cognitive bias modification (CBM-I) may be a scalable, low-cost tool to support mood improvement. This research highlights an important insight: The brain responds strongly to imagery — and training your imagination intentionally can influence emotional patterns.
