AHIP President and CEO Mike Tuffin delivered opening remarks at AHIP 2024, stating, “AHIP will be advocating for a health care system that works better and costs less, a system that is more convenient for people, more sustainable for our country, and more equitable for everyone.” Tuffin highlighted key priorities in commercial markets and public programs, including: -Supporting ERISA and maintaining the longstanding tax treatment of employer-provided coverage (EPC) to keep EPC strong for 180 million workers and dependents; -Extending the enhanced tax credits to ensure 22 million consumers can keep their Marketplace coverage; -Ensuring continuity of coverage and prioritizing ex parte renewals for Medicaid beneficiaries; and -Supporting 33 million Medicare Advantage beneficiaries who will see fewer choices and reductions in benefits due to policy changes enacted in recent years. Tuffin also emphasized AHIP’s affordability agenda and commitment to offering solutions and data-driven insights on key issues.
