(27 Mar 1998) T/I: 10:37:07 The Red Cross Societies of North and South Korea agreed Friday (27/3) on a 50,000-tonne aid package for North Korea, which will be delivered by the end of May. The aid will include flour, cooking oil and salt and fertilizer. Earlier, the talks appeared to be stalled over a disagreement on monitoring deliveries of aid. Monitoring remained a major concern for South Korea because of worries over aid being possibly diverted to the North's army. But North Korea agreed to allow Red Cross monitors to observe aid deliveries in one or two areas outside where the organisation already operates. Now the two sides have agreed to monitor one or two of these areas and they are requesting us to do monitoring in these areas."; Reporter asking Lee Byung-Woong about future aid, Lee makes no comment; 2.14 Find out more about AP Archive: http://www.aparchive.com/HowWeWork Twitter: / ap_archive Facebook: / aparchives Instagram: / apnews You can license this story through AP Archive: http://www.aparchive.com/metadata/you...
