Here is a Tour of the Former Macy's at University Mall in Tampa, FL. This Store opened as Mass Brothers on August, 15th, 1974, became Burdines in 1991 and later became Macy's in 2005 and shut down for good on March 19th, 2017. I went here and filmed this video on March 9th, 2017 before this store closed down for good 10 days later. This video is a tour of this store before it shut down featuring all of the public areas, escalators, elevators, bathrooms, door hardware, etc. This Store will be yet another one of this malls many vacant stores, with the remaining ones now being restaurants in the food court, Studios Movie Grill, Sears (likely closing down soon too), A small section of the Dillard's, the Burlington Coat Factory, Victoria's Secret, and a few small shops by the food court escalators (seen on video). The whole mall's fate is very unfortunate as within the next couple of years this Mall with either be completely demolished with a New mall built in place, or the mall being demolished and either a gym, YMCA, apartments, or some new attraction being built in place, or the main mall building will be left standing, but gutted out and being converted into something else with the department store buildings being demolished (including this building). Until anything happens to this dying mall and decisions are made on what to do, this place will be standing abandoned and vacant. Anyways, with all of that being said, enjoy a tour of one of My several Childhood Macy's Stores and a walkthrough of some more department store history as it fades away.... RIP August, 15th, 1974-March, 19th, 2017
