Geostrophic Dipole Formation in Rotating Tank

This video demonstrates the effect of stirring in a rotating tank. We stir the fluid inside the small cylinder in the clockwise direction and add some dye for visualtisation, while the outer cylinder is rotating in the counterclockwise direction. We remove the cylinder and see the formation of two deparate dipoles. The dipoles fall apart as soon as we turn off the rotation of the bigger tank.
