Discover the critical ecological value of the Buna River and its delta — a stunning transboundary ecosystem shared by Albania and Montenegro. This region, rich in biodiversity and cultural history, is recognized internationally through designations like Ramsar, KBA, IPA, and IBA. I’ve tried to capture both the beauty and the vulnerability of this natural treasure, and the inspiring efforts of the people working to protect it. This includes the work of PPNEA and EnvPro in their cross-border conservation project, supported by CEPF, with a particular focus on saving the critically endangered Adriatic sturgeon. From eDNA monitoring and scientific research, to grassroots actions like river cleanups, educational outreach, and community training, this initiative shows how local dedication can fuel international environmental progress. This film is not just a visual record — it’s a reminder of what’s at stake, and a call to action. Let’s protect and restore the Buna River and its delta — not only for nature but for the generations to come. Project Title: CEPF-114371 - "Setting the foundation for a sustainable future for Buna River Protected Landscape in Albania and Bojana Delta in Montenegro." The project is funded by the Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF), a collaborative effort of l’Agence Française de Développement, Conservation International, the EU, Fondation Hans Wilsdorf, the Global Environment Facility, the Government of Japan, and the World Bank. Additional support in the Mediterranean hotspot comes from the MAVA Foundation, the Audemars-Watkins Foundation, and DIMFE.
