This film tries to answer 2 important questions regarding Phacoemulsification. What should be the right plane of emulsification and how do we achieve this? Anterior plane of emulsification and lens chatter are the 2 most important reasons for corneal endothelial trauma and post operative corneal edema in the early post operative period. If we ensure that the plane of emulsification is at the level of or below the pupillary plane , then intra operative endothelial trauma can be minimised leading to clear corneas on the first post operative day. Posterior plane of emulsification of the nucleus can be achieved by controlling the speed of the emulsification by regulating the phaco enrgy used during the process
