With this musical presentation am sharing my perspective of experiencing the lyrics and bhāva of this song In this song, Saint Tyagaraja (the composer of this song) sees the Sapta-svaras not merely as notes, but as living divinities. He mentions five centres in the body :-nābhi (navel), hṛdaya (heart), kaṇṭha (throat), rasana (tongue) , and nāsā (nose). Through the movement of prāṇa (originating from the nābhi), the vibration across these centres gives birth to the seven svaras “Sa Ri Ga Ma Pa Da Ni”, as if the body itself becomes a sacred instrument. And He reminds us the very origin of sound through the body, flows from the sacred Gāyatri Mantra which is the heart of Vedas (Ṛg Veda, Sāma Veda) Of course, some rāgas of his composition seem to begin with him and still cannot be traced before him. Were they his creations? Perhaps the divine was playing through him. Saint Thyagaraja swami is truly a reminder of what bhakti is. The devotion expressed through music that already originates from within the human body. #shravanthi #carnaticmusic #carnaticclassicalmusic #carnaticmusicians #classicalmusic #gayatri
