1922 Bullnose Morris Cowley two Seater with Dickey Seat

We have known this great running, well presented and delightfully aged 1922 'Bullnose' Morris Cowley for around ten years. We have supplied the car to three regular customers over that time. We really got to know EL 6583 well in 2018 when we owned the car for the third time taking it up to Glenapp Castle on the South Ayrshire coast of Scotland for an event we were hosting. The Bullnose was transported to South Ayrshire and took part in a classic car run up the A77 past Turnberry to Culzean Castle. 60 miles of driving up and down some quite steep hills with an amazing view of the West Coast of Scotland and out to Ailsa Craig island. The trip really showed what a wonderful, useable and enjoyable 'twenties' car this really is. We subsequently sold it to the most recent owner in the Scottish Borders who has now decided to have a change, as many of our regular customers do after a couple of years. When the Morris first arrived with us in 2010, we sold it to a customer in Copmanthorpe, York. The Bullnose arrived with us a nicely aged restoration, but somehow managed to retain that very original feel and look to it. Whilst in very strong condition and with a sound body and good paint, it just somehow looked so original and very honest - something difficult to create when restoring a car of this age. EL 6583 had very little use in the years prior to arriving with us so we overhauled the switchbox, re-conditioned the steering box and both the magneto and dynamo were rebuilt and re-wired. The Morris stayed in York for five years but was not really used. It was continuously cleaned, regularly fired up and kept on blocks in the owner's workshop. In 2015 we sold the Morris for the second time. The new owner was based in Market Rasen, Lincolnshire and was a regularly attendee at many classic and vintage shows and events across the region. Prior to supplying the car we stripped and cleaned the carb, cleaned the fuel lines, replaced the fuel tap and serviced the engine. The new owner began using the Morris on a regular basis but early on in its new ownership a differential issue came to light. At a cost of over £1000 we removed the rear axle and differential and carried out a complete overhaul. The Morris then proved completely reliable, regularly appearing on the show and rally circuit, performing faultlessly in several years of ownership. EL 6583 had proven a superb driving, reliable and wonderfully usable Bullnose. We know the car well and have had great fun with it ourselves. Our Morris was first registered on 29th November 1922 and is known as the Model MC2, 2-Seat Tourer. It also has the useful rear dickey seat that can carry two passengers or plenty of luggage. The car is in charming condition with a lovely patina and whilst it's an older restoration, it has been meticulously kept and the paintwork and bodywork are of a generally good standard. The upholstery was re-trimmed several decades ago and today still looks outstanding. The beige canvas hood is still serviceable but now a little weathered and marked. It will be replaced in our own trim shop for its next owner. On the road the Bullnose is fantastic with a lovely quiet, smooth 1548cc 11.9hp engine. The gearbox is delightful to use and changes up and down and very nicely. The car has rear wheel brakes only and with the rebuilt steering box it drives as good as anyone could expect of a Bullnose. Driving the car is easy, great fun and the Morris is a usable, reliable classic, which will celebrate its centenary just two years from now!
