As the global climate crisis intensifies, the intersection between citizen engagement, technology, and environmental governance has become increasingly critical. Climate change is a governance challenge that demands inclusive, accountable, and transparent responses, and not just an environmental issue. In many countries, including Ghana, citizens are emerging as key actors in monitoring climate commitments, pushing for adaptation and mitigation measures, and holding duty-bearers accountable. With the rise of digital tools and platforms, citizens now have greater opportunities to influence climate policies and actions. From tracking the implementation of National Adaptation Plans (NAPs) to engaging in digital activism and developing tech-driven climate solutions, there is growing momentum around citizen-led climate accountability. However, harnessing this potential requires stronger awareness, capacity-building, and strategic collaboration.
