Thanks to Apogee for the use of their Ensemble interface (ApogeeDigital.com) About the piece, Dr. Roth had this to say: After attending a guitar recital which included two pieces by Roland Dyens, I was intrigued by the quirky sense of humor and dance-like rhythms which characterized these works. My composition was dually inspired by some friends of mine and our wonderful dinner parties where there was always amazing food and live music. Most classical guitarists will recognize the opening of Soirée as strikingly similar to Dyens’ Vals en Skai.
