BEFORE ANYONE COMMENTS HOW CHEESY MY STAGE 1 APPROACH IS, I chose to do so for the sake of consistency. This video shows me doing this stage properly: • PSURG Shark Attack Ultra stage 1 done... Shark Attack, a shmup (STG) game made by PSURG Design (currently defunct). The only two members of PSURG Design were Squeedge (aka SqueedgeMonster) and em (known as Renard at the time). After a few days of struggle, I (barely) managed to clear the Ultra mode (Fracas), with no lives remaining on defeating the stage 6 boss phase 3. The game has three modes (difficulties), each with a different main character. Normal mode features Mischief, Hard mode features Mayhem, while Ultra mode features Fracas. There is no bomb in this game, and you begin with 9 extra lives. In Normal and Hard modes there are power items dropped by red carriers that increases your shot power. However your shot power decreases as you fire your shots. Blue carriers drop extra lives, but will only appear in Normal and Hard mode. Unlike Normal and Hard mode, Ultra mode does not have any stage portions (meaning it's a boss rush), but the bosses are much harder. On the other hand your shot power is locked at 200, so you can fire whenever you want. In turn the red carriers drop nothing on kill, and your score actually decays as time goes by, making speedkilling a key strategy for higher scores. There is a problem with training mode on Ultra. In training mode you don't get to fight stage 6 phase 3. Not sure if it's a design choice or an oversight. The scoring system is kinda strange. Every time your shot kills an enemy/hits a boss, you get [remaining lives] * [shot power] amount of score. You don't get any score if you have 0 lives left, and having shot power locked at 200 in Ultra means you get 200*lives score every time you hit the boss. I'm not sure about how fast the score decays though. Stage 1 boss does not have a hitbox. I chose to cheese the first stage for consistency. This video shows me doing this stage properly: • PSURG Shark Attack Ultra stage 1 done... Phase 1 of stage 2 has a fixed pattern. Just remember to move away from the center after the random bullets, or you might get caught up when the lasers fire. In phase 2 the boss shots reflecting bullets randomly, so sometimes you could get caught off guard. Stage 3 phase 1 is completely static. Phase 2 is kinda annoying, since the boss only opens its mouth briefly and you can't really deal much damage. Just be patient and don't risk your lives for extra damage. Stage 4 and 5 are the easiest stages on Ultra mode, at least for me. Stage 4 phase 1 doesn't really need much explanation (I hope), while phase 2 is basically random dodging. Keep focused, and pray for good RNG. Stage 5 phase 1 is basically circling around the purple rod when it spawns. Be careful about the horns of the boss. They have hitboxes too and will kill you if you run into them. Phase 2 is about the same as stage 4 phase 2. Random dodging, keep focused, and pray to RNGsus. Stage 6 phase 1 requires a lot of patience. First hug one of the left corners. Then, whenever the turrets fire bullets, move to the other corner, and shooting when you're moving. DO NOT SHOOT when you are at the very top/bottom, or you may got caught up in the reflected bullets. Unfortunately I messed up once in this run. Stage 6 phase 2 is the most ridiculous part of the whole Ultra mode. The fast spinning purple blobs are really inconsistent to dodge. You kinda need to line up with the center of the boss and try to go through them when they come near, but the boss moves faster and faster as it loses health, so it can get quite messed up towards the end. Stage 6 phase 3 is a lot more manageable than phase 2, although I still died quite a few times. The regular bullets and lasers are pretty much self-explanatory. For the purple blobs, line up with the boss horizontally and hug the left side, and they won't hit you. It's okay to be a bit up or down, if you need to dodge the laser at the same time. 60 fps video available here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/gnk5nuyo3bl...
