Following the week-long event at Didcot Railway Centre, the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway held its own week-long gala from Saturday May 29th to Sunday 6th June. The event was called 'GWR175 - Cotswold Festival of Steam' and everything in action had some kind of link to the Great Western, even hiring in locomotives that were not currently in active service. The locomotive fleet comprised of GWR 3700-class 'City' 4-4-0 No.3717 "City of Truro", 4575-class 'Small Prairie' 2-6-2T No.5542, 5700-class 0-6-0PT No.4612 (from the Bodmin & Wenford Railway), 2884-class 2-8-0 No.3803 (from the South Devon Railway), 7800-class 'Manor' 4-6-0 No.7802 "Bradley Manor" (from the Severn Valley Railway), 1400-class 0-4-2T No.1450 (from the Dean Forest Railway), ROD 4300-class 2-6-0 No.5322 (from the Didcot Railway Centre), BR(W) 6959-class 'Modified Hall' 4-6-0 No.7903 "Foremarke Hall", 5101-class 'Large Prairie' 2-6-2T No.4160 (from the West Somerset Railway) and 9400-class 0-6-0PT No.9466 (from the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre). The other three locomotives that saw use were David Shepard's BR 9F-class 2-10-0 No.92203 "Black Prince" (a product of Swindon) whilst newly-restored LMSR/Turkish 8F-class 2-8-0 No.8274/45160 ran in the guise of Reading-based 8F No.8476. Finally, The Gwili Railway's 'Robert Stephenson & Hawthorns' 0-4-0ST No.7058 "Olwen" operated Brake Van rides in the garden at Gotherington whilst also posing as Swansea Docks No.1144. The gala did have one major problem in that of the catastrophic embankment collapse just outside of Gotherington. This meant that no trains could run between Gotherington and Chelthenham Racecourse. As the passing loop at Gotherington couldn't be used, trains had to be top-n-tailed from Winchcombe to Gotherington and back again. In addition, auto-trains were worked over the new extension from Toddington towards Broadway over the viaduct. These were worked by Nos.1450 and 5542. Not all of the locomotives were in action each day (due to there being so many of them). Only up to five could be seen working per day with different themes during the week. This footage is from Saturday 29th May. Locomotives in action on this day were...
