Introduced Pac-man from my little indigenous gaming group to ARMA III SOG Prairie Fire (SOG PF) Across The Fence (ATF), and we had an absolute blast! This video was our second run of ATF, with him only playing the game mode with me once the day before this run. On that note, this is probably the first time he's ever played ARMA III in any proper way, and he was absolutely kicking ass! This is also, in truth, the first time I've ever played ARMA III with a fellow countryman. All my ARMA III multiplayer exploits before this were with the SOG PF RT Columbia beta-testing and Savage Game Design Developer team. So it was a fresh and new experience for me, and a great one at that! Since we were a pair, there wasn't a team leader per se. I chose the Grenadier specialty while Pac-man chose the rifleman specialty so that we had a powerful suppressed assault rifle for quiet engagements while I had the XM-148 grenade launcher for explosive firepower. Funnily enough, I never used the 40mm grenades once during the whole mission. The mission started off well enough, with us finding sites quite quickly upon insertion into the Area of Operations (AO). Things heat up in the last quarter or so of the mission, when trackers pick up our trail as we were maneuvering on an NVA Supply Dump. Then, it was a fight to break contact and get to a Landing Zone (LZ) for extraction. A great pair recon! I hope you guys enjoy the video! The timestamps for the mission are below: 00:00 Insertion into AO. 02:35 Item found with tracks leading North. 06:30 Visual contact of NVA patrol. 10:35 NVA Ammo Cache spotted. It is marked and photographed. 21:20 We proceed South in an attempt to cross the bridge, but find another NVA Ammo Cache right smack-dab at the bridge. We mark and photograph it, then push to the village of Va Cang to scope it out. 37:20 With Va Cang devoid of NVA forces, we decide to swim across the river and continue our recon patrol. 47:00 We swim cross the river a second time. 51:20 As we patrol to the marked Area Of Interest (AOI), Pac-man spots an NVA Transmitter Site in the distance. We proceed to mark it. 01:03:20 We patrol to An Sung Song village. It is devoid of NVA. We continue to patrol South. 01:05:15 Item found with tracks leading South. 01:07:10 I use the Skiptime function to bring us daylight again. 01:09:40 NVA trackers creep up on our tail. Pac-man spots them. Fight's on! 01:10:15 As we fight away from the trackers, we stumble into an NVA Supply Dump. We overrun it, mark, and photograph the site. 01:12:35 My Claymore mine goes off. They're hot on our six! 01:13:40 Item found with tracks leading West. We try to locate the site, even with NVA trackers coming up our backtrail. 01:18:10 Pac-man initiates contact with an NVA patrol and eliminate them all. 01:18:35 Trackers engage us as we inspect the bodies of the NVA patrol. We engage heavily and break contact. 01:21:00 I declare a Prairie Fire emergency, and we make our way to the LZ for extraction. Along the way, Pac-man attempts to mark sites we spotted along the way. But at this point, survival trumped site marking by a long shot. 01:25:35 We reach the LZ and board the Huey back to base. We are home free! 01:26:15 Mission debrief.
