Mindful of local religious sensitivities, the Indian version of the US chain will serve no beef or pork. Cows are revered as sacred by Hindus; they regard the eating of beef as sacriligious. Instead, McDonalds in Delhi will serve "mutton burgers," along with fish and vegetable dishes. Pizza Hut and KFC have also entered the Indian market; the Wimpy chain opened there in 1985.
