Historic Day: Minister Salhoutuonuo Kruse Inaugurates Mezoma Road for Better Connectivity

New Link Road Inaugurated at Mezoma Historic Day: Minister Salhoutuonuo Kruse Inaugurates Mezoma Road for Better Connectivity Mezoma, April 26: A new link road connecting Mezoma village to key destinations like Dimapur, Kohima, Khonoma, and Sechü-Zubza was officially inaugurated today by Salhoutuonuo Kruse, Minister for Women Resource Development & Horticulture. The road was constructed by the Thepfüsasie Kehie Kikramia peer group of Mezoma village, under the leadership of Thepfüsasie Kehie Kikramia, who led the group’s efforts to improve village connectivity. Addressing the gathering, Minister Kruse praised the vision, teamwork, and dedication of the peer group, noting that the new connectivity would not only benefit Mezoma but also boost tourism and economic activities across the Western Angami region. She encouraged villagers to preserve their rich cultural heritage, citing Switzerland and Khonoma as examples of successful models where cultural conservation has driven tourism growth. Highlighting the state’s infrastructural progress under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio, Kruse also mentioned key projects such as the PMGSY road from Khonoma to Peducha, the Dzüdza–Khonoma road construction, the completed International Standard Indoor Stadium at Sechü-Zubza, and the upgradation of the Sechü-Zubza Primary Health Centre to a Community Health Centre. The inauguration program, held at Kehiekiju, Mezoma village, saw participation from community leaders, villagers, and well-wishers. The event was chaired by Neisiesa Chüsi, with greetings brought by Kikra Krüü Rokokedo Kehie. Kevingukho Sirie spoke on the significance of the occasion, while Rev. Visakuolie Chüsi offered prayers. A special folk song was presented by MPYO, and the event concluded with a vote of thanks by Zhasau Sirie.
