http://www.thewatchbox.com Breitlings builds 'em tough; of this there is no doubt. Consider this Breitling Avenger Seawolf 3000M Ref. E17337 dive watch as "Exhibit A." Upon its debut in 2003, this model represented a the fruit of a watchmaker's Manhattan Project by the Solothurn brand. The unprecedented diving depth for a production Breitling watch required the company's first-ever use of Finite Element Analysis software in connection with case design; computer modeling helped to isolate pressure points and weak links before the final case dies were cut. Given its maximum depth rating of 3000 meter (10,000 feet), the Breitling Avenger Seawolf might be expected to sit upon the wrist like a Mosler safe, but absolute comfort prevails thanks to the light weight titanium case. Despite the formidable construction and burly 44mm diameter, the Avenger Seawolf wears with the profile of a 42-mil diver and the mass of a sub-40. While the tall case is unlikely to play well with the tightest of dress cuffs, this Avenger Seawolf 3000M is a versatile piece that never distracts the user. Moreover, the subdued brushed finish of the case, matching Professional titanium bracelet, and the matte blue dial ensure a confident but discreet presence and a handsome wrist stance. The business end of the Breitling Avenger Seawolf 3000M comes in the form of a unidirectional dive bezel, integrated helium escape valve, mammoth 5mm thick crystal, and the convenient clasp-mounted dive suit extension. The last two features pay extra dividends to land-lubbers; that monster crystal is extra insurance against a shattering blow, and the dive clasp permits the watch to be worn externally over a winter coast in frigid climates. Inside the titanium case, a Breitling caliber 17 chronometer-grade movement keeps time to COSC specifications. Based on the ETA 2824, this automatic movement is as tough as the case around it. While ETA's 2892 is considered the thinner and finer of the two, the 2824 is the more robust. And considering the durability of the 2892, that's a serious endorsement. Additional refinements include a jump date and a stop-seconds feature for precise synchronization to a reliable reference time such as an atomic clock. This Breitling Avenger Seawolf 3000M dive watch is available in outstanding condition, and all of the original brushed surfaces retain factory levels of definition and detail.
