Since she first popped up on our radars, we've been loving every decibel of Bec Sandridge's output. Although she's been killing it from day one, 2016 has undoubtedly been her paramount year - she's signed on with the legends at Farmer & The Owl, she was nice enough to have a chat with us for Happy Mag Issue #3, and her newest EP In The Fog hit the shelves last Friday. Which is why she was an obvious choice for our next exclusive cover as part of an ongoing partnership with Enmore Audio. Ditching the meat of her usual setup, Sandridge turned the volume down on an absolutely classic track by offering us a heart wrenching rendition of I Drove All Night with just a pianist for accompaniment. Previously in the studio we've had DARTS tear through The Stone Roses' I Wanna Be Adored and Pretty City knock out a fuzzed-out rendition of T-Rex's 20th Century Boy. Although two ripper covers, it was nice to leave the earplugs at home for once. I Drove All Night was originally written by Billy Steinberg and Tom Kelly for Roy Orbison, who recorded his rendition in 1987 but never released the track until 1992, when Cyndi Lauper had already made the song famous with her 1989 release. Sandridge's version echoes the vocal performances of these luminaries, pushing the envelope to staggering levels of intensity in the latter half of the song. At first, it was a little strange to watch her perform sans guitar, but after hearing that first high note you'll forget she ever needed one. #liveatenmore
