MONTANA GIANT!!! Late Season Mule Deer Hunt - Stuck N The Rut 180

My big Montana muledeer is down!!! I have pounded this mountain multiple days looking for this buck, but couldn’t find him. My biggest struggle was that the last snow was a couple weeks ago so there was deer tracks everywhere and it made it very difficult to figure out where the deer moved to. Tuesday night, we got a couple inches of snow. I knew that this would be a good opportunity for me to go back up there and find fresh deer tracks. Travis choose to come with to film and just in case we cross a big bull elk for him to go after. We started our hike in the dark to reach up to the muledeer elevation. As soon as we made it to the spot where Travis saw the big buck last, we cut a fresh buck track in the snow. We decided to follow it. The track was by itself, and we knew that the buck was going to be moving fast roaming looking for does, so we need to move fast as well. 1 hour goes by and the buck continues to decline in elevation. Then, we crossed his bed, which looks like he just got out of a couple minutes ago and he changes his directions heading straight for the big open face of the mountain. Travis and I were getting excited, knowing that we are going to possibly see this buck any minute. Travis kept the video camera rolling as I walked out of the timber into the opening to take a peak where the fresh buck track is heading. There he stood, staring at me 200 yards away. I dropped to a knee and took aim with the Gunwerks 7 saum as Travis zoomed in on the buck with the video camera. BOOM, the buck did a donkey kick, ran down about 50yards and piles up. What a dream come true to pull a buck this big in an area that I have always considered home. What a perfect way to end the Muledeer season!!! #muledeer #hunting #deerhunting
