When there is a nasal bleeding which is not amenable to the pressure that we put on the septum, then in that situation, we may have to take other measures. One of them is by cauterisation. Cauterisation can be by chemicals such as silver nitrate or copper sulphate which is applied to the area where there is a bleeding or by using heat which is diathermy and with heat one can stop the bleeding, this has to be done under a short aesthetic to avoid pain to the patient and this takes care of the bleeding completely.
