This is a Shetland fleece that I bought earlier this fall at a fiber festival. If you are wondering what to expect when you get a raw fleece, this video shows my experience. This is the second fleece I have purchased from this farm, (Vineyard at Porter Central, Sunbury, Ohio) both are beautiful. The first fleece (last year's purchase) was so easy for me to work with, spinning and felting, and had such great natural color that I was glad to purchase the second fleece for winter projects this year. I forgot to mention in the video: after I spin the yarn, I put a little Unicorn Power Scour in the hot water (hot water sets the twist you just put into the yarn during spinning- for any beginners out there!) and it takes care of the grease. FYI to anyone using dish detergent instead: for me the detergent will set in a "dingy" overcast/color on white wool. Not sure if that happens to others or it's just because we have hard water! Unicorn never leaves "dingy coloring, always has white staying white.
