60163 Tornado - A Dominant Show & No Diesel Over The S&C ! The Shap Mountaineer

LNER A1 60163 Tornado heads a rare unassisted train over The Settle & Carlisle Railway running all the way from Birmingham via Shap. Pure steam over the S&C is a rarity these days and I believe the last time a diesel free steam excursion headed over this famous railway was last march. The main focus of the video was at Ais Gill right before the summit but we first captured the A1 early on just north of Stafford as Tornado powered along past Norton Bridge on the West Coast Mainline avoider line. The Second location was at Docker on the long climb to Grayrigg with the backdrop of the South Lakes looking superb, two angles capture the action. As I mentioned above the main reason for the trip was to capture the A1 forging south over the long climb to Ais Gill Summit. We capture three angles as Tornado blasts over the Roof Of England.
