Japan Day 9: Takayama & Shirakawago

Come with us as we travel from Nagoya to Takayama and Shirakawago for the day. The 2.5 hour train ride is straightforward and offers scenic views of the mountainous terrain which is best enjoyed aboard the Hida Limited Express train. It was snowing lightly on the day which made it magical as we strolled through the streets of old town Takayama. There are plenty of small shops and restaurants to explore. We tried the Hida beef ramen which had a clear broth but packed a rich umami flavour, highly recommended! The conditions were perfect for flying the drone so we took flight at the UNESCO heritage listed site, Shirakawago. Tip: Make sure you allow a few weeks before arriving in Japan to register your drone. Buses to/from Shirakawago are limited so ensure you check the timetable and reserve your round trip bus tickets in advance.
