Screw that was holding it in place loosened, but i fixed that now! 00:00 - intro 00:10 - remove housing 01:04 - cut connector behind pins 01:20 - remove hot glue 01:52 - cut cable to length 02:20 - remove insulation 04:23 - check connector position 05:04 - soldering wire to the connector 06:10 - re-apply hot glue for strength 07:02 - re-add connector housing 08:28 - Done! Hi! I needed a short sata cable for my upcoming project i am working on. I needed a sata combo cable for a hot-swap bay, but there were no available with short enough cables, so i decided to make one myself! And i always wondered how hard would it be to shorten these data cables yourself... And oh boy it was! Wires are small and spaces between them are tiny! And i have really shaky hands! But it turned out acceptable, It works, and does not look all that bad. Be careful while removing hot glue, you can easily damage connector pins or even pull them out (learned that the hard way). Take your time, remove it piece by piece. And make sure there are no shorts between the pins!
